Liam, love your approach. For me, it's all about the connections and as you said, being curious. I break "all the rules" on the platform all the time, yet I still manage to build. Fir some reason people like my brand of crazy. Happy Saturday!
Thx for sharing your LinkedIn story, Liam. I'm curious what your philosophy to LinkedIn followers/connections is. You've got 45K followers. Is your philosophy the more the better? And how'd you get to that large number (I assume a lot of outbound initially)? Many thx, Rob
Thanks so much for the comment and question. I built that following in 5 years or so as I started posting content on LinkedIn in January of 2020. It's been steady over time.
About half of those are actually connections vs followers, and my philosophy is that you should only connect with people who you would like to get to know better, do business with, or network with if they're in your existing industry. Anyone else can follow you.
I'm very particular about who I connect with now. It wasn't always that way, as I did a lot of outbound to people who were in my prior industry. Looking back on that, I would have been a lot more cognizant of whether or not they spend time on the platform interacting — I think I connected with a lot of people who actually don't visit the platform anymore. Only about 5 to 10% of LinkedIn members create content, so it's a select few compared to other social sites.
If you ever want to jam about LinkedIn, I can talk about it all day.
I would love to ‘jam’ with you about LinkedIn & learn about how to make better use of LinkedIn!!
I’m wanting to expand my network with the people who are interested in actually building a network of like-minded individuals and inspiring people to share learnings with & find out more about how to get the most value out of LinkedIn in building relationships and building my business!
