Whatever you do, don't do this on Linkedin
Automation may save time, but it erodes trust. Resist the urge to cut corners...
If you are using LinkedIn for business development, I implore you: DO NOT DO THIS.
The only thing worse than getting pitch-slapped is getting the same pitch twice because the person on the other end is using automation and has no idea how to configure it properly.
A few reasons automation is bad for your brand:
1) it makes your connections feel like nothing but a number to you <em dash> this is not how relationships are built
2) it makes you look lazy. If you're willing to cut corners on outreachand getting to know me, what kind of quality can I expect after I pay you?
3) there's a strong likelihood that you might mess up the implementation and look like a total clown.
Not to mention, it violates the terms of service of LinkedIn and could get your account restricted, preventing you from manifesting serendipity on this platform, which is the biggest benefit of being here.
Look, I know that manual outreach to build relationships can be uncomfortable and time-consuming, but it's also worth it to do it the right way.
Linkedin outreach is not like automated emails where they get lost in the abyss.
From here on out, the (one-way) exchange above will always be my DMs from this person, reminding me why I don’t want to do business with them.
Cutting corners might work in the short term, but it doesn't help you in the long term.
I’m curious…
What’s one of your biggest pet peeves on LinkedIn?
